VoiceMaker

Authentication

VoiceMaker uses API key–based authentication via Bearer tokens. Every API request must include an Authorization header.

Getting an API key

  1. Log in to your VoiceMaker account at app.myvoicemaker.ai.
  2. Navigate to Settings → API Keys.
  3. Click Generate New Key.
  4. Choose the environment: Live or Test.
  5. Copy your API key and store it securely — you won't see it again.

Key format

Keys look like vmk_live_<prefix>_<secret> for production and vmk_test_<prefix>_<secret> for testing. The live/test segment selects the environment the request runs against.

Using your API key

Pass the key as a Bearer token on every request.

HTTP
Authorization: Bearer vmk_live_a1b2c3d4e5f6_8h9i0jKLmnOPqrSt

Example request

cURL
curl -X GET https://api.myvoicemaker.ai/dev/v1/usage \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer vmk_live_a1b2c3d4e5f6_8h9i0jKLmnOPqrSt"

Scopes

Each key carries one or more scopes, set when the key is created:

ScopeGrants
TRANSCRIPTIONS_READRead access — all GET endpoints
TRANSCRIPTIONS_WRITEWrite access — POST / job-creating endpoints

A request to a write endpoint with a read-only key returns 403 Forbidden.

Account requirements

API access is enabled for accounts on a Growth, Pro, or Enterprise plan, or any account with a purchased credit balance. You can hold up to 3 active keys per account, and keys can be revoked or given an expiry date at any time.

Security best practices

  • Never share or commit API keys to version control.
  • Store keys in environment variables or a secrets manager.
  • Use separate keys for test and production environments.
  • Rotate keys periodically from the console.
  • Monitor key usage from your dashboard and revoke unused keys.
